of sugar at a time

you cannot

;  drivel

​

more than two

;  words

​

in a bundle of pauses

​​

i gurgle

;  time

​​

like water and salt 

;  sifting

​

through a pebble laden stream

​

you cannot 

;  bring your wife

​

more than two

;  sackfuls

​

of promises at a time

​

when out there

;  deceit

​

is the law​

 

and everything at hand

;  decries 

​

the connection

 

between your eyes

and your mind

 

you cannot hurry

;  insight

​

with bits and scraps

of what was once taught 

​

;  you

​

cannot give it any

;  vindication

 

any longer

​

;  you

​

cannot slice out

any amount of deference​

​

out of this thorough

and relentless

​​​

decimation

​​​​​​
