Life's Realest Moments

Life’s realest moments
Happen quietly
With no fanfare, no belligerence or
Bravado
Only the quietest of love
and the calmest of warmth
The moments of God
Are private
And unassuming
A life of memories
Wrapped inside
One small cocoon
Bagging bread and salt
Tomatoes and mint and utensils
For the night
A brief sitdown
Glances and open eyes
A heart choking on a smile
Two kisses on a cheek
And one bashful kiss in response
My eldest daughter
Moved into her own house tonight
To create a new life
With her newly strengthened hands
The moments of God
Bring the dearest of surprises
Without any fanfare
Or troubles of the outside
A reminder from within
That within us is our love
And all the distractions
Of a mad, foolish world
Can be forgotten
With one unavoidable smile
